I follow mostly restuarant and food related accounts on IG. I came a across a picture of fish and chips and a cool looking drink. I put this place on my list and found a good time to go. When we got there we did not have a reservation and the hostess showed us two menus, like a main dinner seating and a more casual communal table. I liked the casual menu a little better, so we went with that. The drink I ordered was vodka based, it had lemon and elderflower and a splash of prosecco it was so refreshing. The fish and chips were so good. The fish was crispy, it was served with crushed minted peas. That was a nice addition to the dish. I would back and try something else. It’s in Hudson Yards so the views are amazing.

Cantina and Cantina Rooftop
I love Mexican and happy hour, this gives me the best of both worlds. I usually frequent the two Harlem locations, I decided to try the rooftop. With both Harlem spots, the vibe is chill, cold drinks and fast service. I order guacamole, elote, tacos and wings. I usually get flavored margaritas too. I like the variety of tacos better in Harlem. The view and service at the rooftop was the best. I liked the food and drink varieties better at the rooftop. I had a chipotle corn guacamole, chicken tacos(it was Taco Tuesday)and a frose drink in addition to my margaritas. I would go back to the rooftop and order my drinks and food the first shot.
Chocolat, brunch
So I have previous dinner post about this place. The food is still good, service still shaky. For some reason they served a large party ahead of our party of two. He did tell us about the wait, but a drink refill or an appetizer would’ve been a nice gesture. We ordered a pitcher of white sangria, cheddar and mozzarella omelet and a turkey burger. They do have unlimited mimosas and bellinis as an option. The pitcher was a better choice for us. The food was good, the burger was seasoned well. I would go back and jave something sweet, like pancakes or waffles. Maybe third times a charm with the service.
Beatstro, brunch
I am truly a Bk girl at heart, on a rare occasion I find myself in the Bronx. The menu was interesting, took me longer to decide on sweet or savory. We decided on mac and cheese as a share, so getting the chicken and waffle was an easier choice. The chicken was nicely fried and seasoned. The waffle had a nice crisp and flavor. Mac and cheese was made with shells amd was actually good. I would like to go back for happy hour and wings, my favorite.
Butter and Scotch, aka Drunk Bakers
I stumbled upon this place on Instagram. They’re known as the drunk bakers, they have the most insane cake sayings. Because the are a bar as well, I had to make my way. Went on Saturday evening, bar was full sat a table in the back. Browsed through the menu decided on a drink with mezcal and citrus. Usually not a big fan, I was hoping the citrus would make it interesting. It absolutely did, the drink also had a cute S stamped on it. The smores pie was absolutely divine. The torched marshmallow tasted almost like creme brulee. The brown butter cookie was the buttery and yummy. Popcorn got spicer as the bowl emptied. The funky saying cakes were not on display, it truly is a bar. They do serve almost all desserts, including boozy shakes and jello shots. I would go back to have actual cake. Everything I had was really good.
Glow Thai
I saw a picture of a glowing drink online somewhere and followed it to this place. The ambience wasn’t anything special, I almost thought I had the wrong place. The drink menu was very creative, I had two of them. One was a glowy kind of green and the other was smoky and had crushed and vodka infused gummy bears. Both drinks were delicious. For appetizers mussels served with rice, could have easily been a full meal and soy garlic wings. I only had the broth and veggies, not into mussels but it was really tasty. The wings were temperature hot and so crispy, they were perfect. A half crispy duck and basil fried rice with chicken for main courses. The sauce the duck was in was so good, the rice was cooked with the perfect amount of heat I’m glad asked for mild spice. Anymore would have made it unenjoyable. For dessert, fried ice cream!!! I would definitely go back to try some other drinks and dishes.
Birthday dinner at Bourbon Street Bar and Grille
So I love birthdays, anyone’s. They are your special day. One of my classmates turned homegirl celebrated her birthday here. She had been before, knew and loved the menu and atmosphere. She was right. We sat at a pub style table, on one side of the room, perfect for our party size. We ordered drinks, they had definitely had a good variety. I ordered a rum punch, it was tasty. I ordered from the pre fixe menu. I probably could have skipped it and ordered an entrée. We had so many appetizers, I was basically full by the time my main dish came. Potato skins, mozzarella sticks, nachos grande, hush puppies (amazing) and chicken tenders. My meal came with a caesar salad. My main came without my request, I sent it back. It was delicious, it was carbonara. I had the brownie for dessert, it was huge. Served with vanilla ice cream. I will definitely go back.

Wingbar, Saturday night
Over the past few years, I have become slightly obsessed with finding great wings. I usually find the best wings at non wing specific restaurants. Now this place has great wings. They are fried and tossed to order. They were crispy, hot and the flavor was just right. I had buffalo and bbq, they were both really good. I ordered fried pickles, they had a little too much dough for me. The pickles themselves were good. I had two margaritas, that’s what I drink. It was the typical bar atmosphere, they had college football on. Cold drinks, hot food, great time.

Restaurant week, Grotto Azzurra
Stepped outside my usual and went for Italian. I was pleasantly pleased with the food. I ordered a tequila based drink, it was refreshing. They didn’t have the pumpkin ravioli, I was a little disappointed. I got the spinach salad which was really good. It was served in a cheese bowl, yum! My homegirl ordered the salmon crostini for an app. It was served on thick french bread, way bigger than the usual crostini. She could only eat two. For our mains, salmon and a shrimp pasta dish both had a brandy based sauces. The salmon was cooked well, it had a grain mustard sauce, it was delightful. The sides were good. I’m not a fan of shrimp, although her dish was well seasoned. Dessert, now I skipped over the tartufo only because I saw creme brulee. Now when I saw the tartufo I was shocked. It was a chocolate shell, with ice cream in the middle. It looked amazing. The first order came out with berries and my homegirl is deathly allergic. The second one was a different flavor, it was fine but she wanted the first flavor minus the berries. There seemed to be a loss in translation at that point. My dessert was great. I would definitely get two desserts next time.
